Alternative Fingering
Fingerings chosen are only a guide and alternative finger patterns may be used. Thirds and Sixth Scales offer a greater diversity for using alternative finger patterns.
For example:
B flat major- thirds ascending.
The alternative fingering can be seen clearly by the use of smaller numbers and commas. The player now has a choice.
Their decision should be based on the freedom and ease of execution. The same principle applies to all scales where alternative fingerings are offered.

Note: The choice of fingering will usually be dictated by the instrument and hand size.
